There are no Engineer Trip Rates for pool turns, locals, road switchers, work trains or relief service, on the AGS.

The following trip rates are in effect on the AGS, applicable to engineers only:

SS pool - Birmingham to Meridian - 163 miles - $236.6000 overtime after 10 hrs 02 min - for 219 crews and extra engineers working vacancy, not for swing job working 219

SC pool - Birmingham to Meridian - 163 miles - $237.2443 overtime after 10 hrs 02 min

NC pool - Birmingham to Chattanooga - 141 miles - $208.2978 overtime after 8 hrs 41 min

$30 weekend/holiday pay on top of the trip rate.

A Flip Trip trip rate applies when you deadhead from one terminal to the other and perform service with NO break in service.

Trip Rate - Example 1: You deadhead to Meridian at 1:00 pm, arrive at 3:45 pm and are ordered for a train at 3:45 pm. The flip trip rate will apply. In this example it will be $237.2443 for the deadhead and $237.2443 for the service trip or $474.4886. But, remember this: that flip trip is based on 326 miles, so, you're not going to make any OT on the service trip.

Trip Rate - Example 2: Train 393 to Meridian, on duty 11 hrs 02 min (1 hour overtime), flip trip back to Birmingham - you'll lose that OT because of the 326 miles on the flip trip.

Trip Rate - Example 3: Train 393 to Meridian, on duty 11 hrs 02 min (1 hour overtime), you have a break in service and then deadhead back to Birmingham - you earn one trip rate for 393, plus 1 hour overtime, plus one trip rate for the deadhead.

What is a break in service? You put off duty and physically leave the property. If you simply put off duty on 393 above at 11:02 am and show on duty on your deadhead at 11:05 am, there is no break in service. If you put off duty on 393 at 11:02 am, go to the motel and 30 minutes later you're called to deadhead home - THAT is a break in service. Remember that you must put off duty and actually leave the property to constitute a break in service. You would get the $237.2443 trip rate for the 393 trip plus overtime plus the $237.2443 for the deadhead.

Extra board engineers will be paid the trip rate of the particular pool in which they are called (SS,NC or SC). If they are called for extra service or NS pool service, they will be paid just as they were prior to trip rates.

Locals  and road switchers will continue to be paid just as they were before trip rates.

Rates of pay tables will be included on this page soon, for service excluded from trip rates.
